DreamLayer

Using DreamLayer

Questions people ask

Is it recording everything I see and hear? No. It does not store audio or video at all — it keeps meaning: "you left the keys on the kitchen table", "Maya mentioned the lease." And it only keeps anything while capture is on; Incognito or the Veil stops even that.

Can it tell me who a stranger is? No, and it never will — the capability was deliberately left out of the product. It only recognizes people who introduced themselves to you and whom you chose, with a deliberate tap, to remember.

Does it work without internet? Yes. Memory, people, promises, finding your things, the Oracle, live captions, and the strongest fact-check (catching self-contradictions) all work with no connection whatsoever. Internet adds exactly one thing: answers to hard general-knowledge questions — and only if you keep that switch on.

Do I need the Mac? No. The phone is the brain by default and everything core works. The Mac adds "ask about my own files and email" and the message relay — a real upgrade, but an optional one.

What does the cloud actually get, when it is on? The text of a hard, non-personal question that nothing local could answer — that is the entire category. Your files, memories, people, faces, and messages are never sent, in any mode. Every cloud call is counted and listed on the Mac panel, so you can verify this yourself at any time.

Someone said something and a red card appeared. What is it telling me? That this same person previously said something that contradicts what they just said — the card quotes their earlier words. It is information for your eyes only; nothing is announced to the room. See The fact-checker.

Why did it stay silent when someone said something false? By design, it is picky: it only checks clear factual claims, needs to be confident, and limits itself to one verdict per person per 45 seconds. A quiet fact-checker you can trust beats a chatty one you learn to ignore.

How do I make it forget something? Say "forget that" right after — the last capture is erased and a card confirms it. Bigger cleanups (a day, a person, everything) live in the phone's Memories and Settings screens, and the Mac panel has erase buttons for its history too.

How do I shut it up during a meeting? "Hey Oracle, focus mode" — interruptions pause for 25 minutes while memory keeps working. For true privacy instead, hold the button: deaf and blind until you hold it again.

What are the ranks and badges about? The Saga — a light progression system that celebrates using the product: your first recall, your first rescued promise, a ten-promise streak. Purely for fun; it affects nothing.

What is Dream Mode? Double-tap the glasses and the display becomes something quieter and stranger: memories pinned to the places where they happened, and a poetic six-word read of the moment. Double-tap again to come home. An instrument, not a tool.

Can two people link their glasses? Yes — Confluence lets two consenting wearers share a subtle togetherness layer: a gentle ping (one tap travels to the other person), a gifted sky. Both sides must opt in, and either can end it.

I have the glasses but nothing shows up. / I don't have glasses yet. DreamLayer is pre-hardware today: the software is complete and tested, and the phone and Mac apps work now, but retail glasses are still ahead. Every image in this guide is produced by the real software.

Where is the deeply technical version of all this? The whole second half of this book — start at Ecosystem architecture. Every claim in this guide is documented there down to the exact thresholds and timings, with references to the code.
