DreamLayer

Glossary

Every DreamLayer term of art, one line each. Chapter links go deeper.

  • Anchor — a memory pinned to a place (subject + place); the source of "your bike is here" and the Ghost Layer's world echoes.
  • Answer-ahead — the silent copilot that pre-fetches the answer when someone else asks a real question. Truth
  • Anticipation — the engine tying place, time, and person into proactive cues (event / person / place). Perception and memory
  • Atmosphere — the ambient layer under all lenses: Inner Weather, Prism, Palette Cycling.
  • Brain (the) — the Mac mini knowledge node: index, panel, API. Brain app
  • BrainRouter — the tiered router: device, then Mac mini, then opt-in cloud. AI Brain
  • Candor — the on-device self-consistency check; Veritas reuses its contradiction predicate.
  • Candor Mirror — the same machinery pointed inward: your pace, fillers, and drift, coached privately. Lenses
  • Capability — one of the 42 named optional integrations a machine may or may not have, each with an honest status and a one-line way to get it. Integrations
  • Capability pack — a one-click bundle of capabilities (Total Recall, Sharp Ears, Clear Eyes, Guardian, Operator) with its download size stated up front. Integrations
  • Confluence — two wearers, one sky: bonds, TinCan pings, weather gifts. Lenses
  • Commitment Drift — promises as physics: blooming, healthy, drifting, cracking, shattered.
  • Demo Mode — the phone app's labeled sample data: every screen alive with fixtures, a banner always visible, one tap to exit. Phone app
  • Deployment profile — a pip extra (profile-halo / profile-phone / profile-mac / profile-cloud) installing the right optional deps for a machine's role. Integrations
  • Discernment — the fusion of Veritas content, Truth Lens delivery, and speaker history into one stance (trust / note / caution / flag). Truth
  • DreamLayer Cloud — the optional paid relay/sync service: union-only entitlements, ciphertext sync, a blind relay; client seams built, service ahead. Cloud
  • Docent — a venue's own knowledge layer, answered on its premises, offline. World lenses
  • Dossier — what the ledger knows about a person: last seen, shared topics, last line.
  • Ember — the gentle anniversary layer: one pinned memory from about a year ago, storm-suppressed. Lenses
  • Dream Mode — the double-tap world: Ghost Layer echoes and Synesthesia. Lenses
  • Earcon — a short identity sound (wake, hark, hark_urgent, look, chime). Earcons
  • Emit capability — a host power a lens may invoke (ask, translate, look), usable only if declared in its signed requires. SDK
  • Figment — a signed, budget-verified little program the Reality Compiler runs on the glass stage.
  • Figment Golf — build the described behavior in the fewest bytes; server-verified leaderboards. Community
  • Glass Desk — the zero-hardware devkit: your plugin's card re-rendered through the real device renderer on every save. SDK
  • Focus — do-not-disturb: interruptions held, capture keeps running. Attention and focus
  • Glance Arbiter — the look decides the lens: candidate lenses bid on each glance, the winner fires, ambiguity offers a one-tap chooser that teaches per-scene priors. Attention and focus
  • GhostMode — the Confluence bond lifted to a whole circle: one three-word code, only feeling crosses the wire. Platform
  • Beacon (The) — find your group by feel: bearings and distance bands on the rim, never coordinates. Platform
  • Ghost Layer — Dream Mode's world-anchored memory echoes.
  • Halo — Brilliant Labs' glasses; DreamLayer's launch device.
  • hello-lens — the ten-minute tutorial plugin (examples/hello-lens/), CI-tested, the template for a first contribution. Open source
  • Hark — the spoken tap on the shoulder: "Listen!" or the urgent "Watch out!". Attention and focus
  • Horizon — the resting-state day ring; the display's home. Glasses experience
  • Heirloom figment — a kept figment carrying a signed dedication, inheritable and provably the author's. Lenses
  • Hub — the phone-side orchestrator process; the mind of the product.
  • Incognito — capture paused, cloud forced off, for a session. Privacy
  • Inner Weather — your own climate rendered as dream-sky weather.
  • Lens — a product-level capability family; six of them, in code. Lenses
  • Lens Builder — compose a lens in the browser, no code; deploy to your own Brain in one click. Lens Builder
  • Lens Jam — a themed, time-boxed community collection. Community
  • Lucid Recall — ask-and-receive: the query router over memory, people, and (via the Brain) your files.
  • Lumen — the motion half of Meridian: springs, palette light, particles, parallax. Meridian
  • Meridian — the HUD design language; "the display is a place, not a stage."
  • Named slot{slot:<name>}: one of up to eight host-fed text channels a lens can hold on one screen. SDK
  • Output-shape rule — ADR 0002: new text output is a figment by default; a card must earn its bespoke renderer. SDK
  • Juno — the assistant: wake, commands, persona, the user model — and now a face (an animated character, labeled brand art). Juno
  • Maturity arc — a fresh install earns its voice: OBSERVER, then APPRENTICE, then RESIDENT — demoted when over-dismissed. Perception and memory
  • Privacy Veil — one gesture, fully deaf and blind; the spine every lens respects. Privacy
  • Premonition — recurring-pattern ghosts of the near future on the Horizon.
  • Prism — the kaleidoscope lens (Atmosphere).
  • Puente — the ear: live speech translation to caption cards.
  • Reality Compiler — Rehearsal to Figment: describe a procedure, get a runnable on-glass skill.
  • REM — the nightly consolidation cycle; its retrieval bias tunes the next day's Horizon.
  • Retrace — "where did I last see it": recall from passive sightings, by place and time. Perception and memory
  • Rosetta — the eye: translate text you look at. Rosetta Live is the ear, offline with the Argos pack. World lenses
  • Plugin — a validated, capability-gated extension: one manifest, one Python file, six possible hooks. Platform

  • SDK — the one supported authoring surface (dreamlayer.sdk) and its CLI, from scaffold to store. SDK
  • Seam — a named point where tested software meets physical hardware. Hardware and seams
  • Simulator (Halo) — the product with no glasses: the browser simulator on the website, and the Python simulator that runs the real stack. The Halo Simulator
  • Social Lens — recognizing your own people, consent-first; never strangers.
  • Solid — the material half of Meridian: real type scale, glass panes, gradient ramps, blooms. Meridian
  • Synesthesia — Dream Mode's six-word poetic sense read.
  • TasteLens — the shelf/menu choice engine: hard dietary vetoes, soft budget, plugin data connectors. World lenses
  • Testimony thread — the Truth Lens gauge: nine stages around the ring, torn where deceptive.
  • Three switches — Mac mini, Cloud, Incognito; independent, never a mode dial. Privacy
  • Timbre — audio texture for known voices (People lens).
  • Thread — steal color from the world: six swatches from whatever you look at, kept as a memory; never the image. Lenses
  • TinCan — a single tap sent down the Confluence wire.

  • Yesterlight — yesterday's light folded into today's ring.
